After Disney Trip Report

cinderella castle at night
Ok, so I was crazy for thinking I could update the blog while I was at Disney! I know...I know, but we are back now and have almost completely recovered.

We really had a great time with my cousins' family. All of the girls got along for the entire trip (a miracle in and of itself) and we managed not to have any major meltdowns.

We spent the first two days at the Magic Kingdom and had a blast. We rode all of the essential rides such as the Flying Dumbos, The Winnie the Pooh Ride, The Teacups, It's a Small World, Aladdin's Magic Carpets, Buzz Lightyear, and others. The girls got to have lunch with Cinderella and all of the other princesses at the Castle. This was the first time that we have been to the castle and were very impressed. All of the girls got wands with wishing stars on them and got to bring them home. They all had their picture made with Cinderella too (that was part of the meal).

We spent a little bit of time at Epcot, but not much. We got there in the late afternoon and the bottom was just about to fall out. We tried getting dinner at the Mexican restaurant there in the park, but no such luck. It was full of others trying to dodge the rain, so we decided to head back to the hotel for dinner. By the time we got there, the rain was over and the girls wanted to go swim in the pool. They had a blast, but they were all freezing by the time they got out.

Shelby gets MAJOR kudos for this trip. She was about half an inch too short to ride Rockin' Rollercoaster (which broke her heart), but she decided she was going to ride Tower of Terror with Eddie (who, by the way, LOVES Tower of Terror). Valerie decided to go with them and the rest of us headed for the Lights, Motor, Action Stunt Show to get seats. Eddie said that Shelby asked a ton of questions about why it was like a haunted house, but that she never fussed about getting off. Now, if you've never ridden T.o.T., it has a computer that does random drops and you never know how many times you will be dropped. Well, as luck would have it, they were dropped the max: 4 times. Eddie said Shelby came out saying she didn't like it, but Mommy thinks she deserves major kudos for even getting on it at all!!

On Tuesday, we headed to Typhoon Lagoon. Of the two water parks at Disney, this has to be my favorite. The layout is better than Blizzard Beach and the rides are a little more appropriate for smaller children. We camped out close to the wave pool and then pretty much split up for the day. Gracie, Valerie, Sydney and I headed for the Lazy River. Eddie, Shelby, Keith and Natalie all headed for the slides and other water rides. Later that afternoon, Eddie & I decided that we wanted to ride some of the faster water slides, namely the Crushin' Gusher. It's a water roller coaster that is completely awesome. We rode this a couple of times back-to-back and had a blast. I highly recommend that anyone who can ride this one, ride it!! Eddie decided he was going to go down the Humunga Cowabunga as well. I watched on that one; Pam does not do straight down drop rides.

The last full day we back at the Magic Kingdom where the three younger girls went to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to become fairytale princesses and diva princesses. One of the sweet fairy godmother's in training saw Sydney sitting in her chair and asked if she could paint Sydney's fingernails. She also got sparkling glitter in her hair and a "smile-button" jewel sticker for her face. All of the girls had a great time and looked like Disney Princesses by the time we headed over to the Grand Floridian for dinner with Cinderella and Prince Charming.

On the day that we headed back home, we decided to have one last character breakfast and chose to go to Cape May at the Beach Club. What an awesome choice!!! Their breakfast was one of the best ones that I have had at any Disney restaurant. There was a large selection of foods from yogurt with all of sorts of toppings, traditional eggs and bacon, a large fruit selection and then also a large selection of breads (muffins, bagels, croissants, etc). There were also Mickey waffles which were so good. My absolute favorite though had to be the bread pudding. I've never had it for breakfast, but what a wonderful treat. It was cooked just right and had a yummy vanilla sauce on top. I think I could eat that almost every day and not get tired of it.

Needless to say, we had an awesome time at Disney once again. Both girls are already talking about going back, so I guess we better start saving now.

(Note: The first set of pictures that just has Eddie & myself in them are from our weekend Disney trip that we took to celebrate our 10th anniversary early. Keep going and you'll see the pictures from the trip with the girls.)
