It's Chicken

I would have to say that Shelby is one of the pickiest eaters on the face of the planet. There are certain things that she likes and sticks with day in and day out. For example, she adores pb&j sandwiches. She takes two sandwiches at a time for lunch and does this about four days out of every school week. She's getting a little better lately about trying new things, but I have to admit that I've tricked her into trying two different things in the last week.

The first was pork roast at my grandfather's house. She tried it and loved it - wouldn't eat any more than the first bite, but she did like it.

The second was on President's Day. Both girls were out of school and wanted to go eat lunch with their Daddy, so we went to the Fish Market downtown. I ordered fried Mahi-Mahi to try it (I usually get it grilled, but was feeling adventurous). She saw it and asked if she could have a bite. After I picked myself up off the floor from shock, I told her it was chicken and she could definitely try it. She took a bite, saying that it was really good and asking if she could have the whole piece. It was then that I told her what it really was. She still ate the whole piece!

Now she goes around bragging to everyone that she ate fish for the first time. Now my only question is.....when will she bust me using the chicken trick?

YEAH! I think Laney will be eating only PB&J for the rest of her life! I am very impressed that you have one venturing out!!

We got Sidney to eat calamari by letting her think it was chicken. We didn't mislead her, but she assumed it was chicken and we didn't bother straightening her out until after she had eaten it.
