To say that this weekend was busy is an understatement!! I broke out how our weekend went, so that you could see the insanity that went on.
Friday
We started off Friday at Gracie's school for their Fall Festival festivities. She got to go on a hayride, pick a pumpkin from the "pumpkin patch", trick-r-treat through the school and then had a party with her classmates. At the same time, Eddie was helping some of the men from our church get ready for Trunk-R-Treat later that night. After Gracie went down for her nap, I went and pitched in with the preparations.
At 3pm, I had to go pick Shelby up from school, then make a mad dash to Wal-Mart for last minute Trunk-R-Treat items that were needed. Shelby and I were back at the church by 4pm and started decorating my trunk. We got that done and then we got the girls dressed. By this time, my parents had arrived with their truck and then I decorated it. Shelby was Jasmine this year and Gracie was Belle. They both have more candy than they could possibly know what to do with, but hey, that's what trunk-r-treat is all about. After the trunk-r-treating and cleanup, it was 9:30pm when we got home! After being up there all day, the girls & I crashed before 10pm!
Saturday
Saturday morning came really early because Shelby had to be at the school by 8:15am to leave for her first jump rope performance at St. Clair County High School. I got her up around 7:15am and got her dressed, to include double French braids (pretty good since I was still half asleep). We got her to the bus on time and then I came back to the house to get Gracie dressed before meeting my parents for breakfast. The place we went to eat was not very speedy that morning (considering that they had been open since 6am), so we were rushing to finish eating. We finally got to the high school about 10 minutes before they performed.
The performance went great and the crowd really got into it. They were cheering and screaming for all of the kids and you could see that the kids loved it!! Saturday afternoon & evening were pretty calm, so not complaints there. Sunday, though, well that's another story.
Sunday
Sunday started out as any normal Sunday. Get up, get ready, get to church, get Children's rooms ready for Sunday School & Worship Care, go to choir, go to service....you get the picture. All was fine until around 1:45pm when we sent Shelby to get her jump rope uniform on for her performance at a metro-cheerleading competition that afternoon. She had to be at the school at 2:45pm, so that would give us a while to get her ready. Well, she came back and said she couldn't find it.
Now, I know I had seen it on her dresser on Saturday afternoon because we told her to put it where she could find it. We turned out house upside down frantically trying to find this uniform and never could put our hands on it. At 2:15pm, I asked Eddie to go to Academy Sports in Trussville to get her another pair of black shorts and I would get her to the bus on time. We got her to the school and told the coach what had happened. Luckily, her granddaughter was cheering at the competition and wasn't going to need her uniform, so Shelby wore it. Needless to say, that was a relief to this very stressed-out and nerve-wracked mom.
After the performance, we went back to church for our evening services. Our children's choir is getting ready for it's upcoming musical and I was getting updates from that practice when I got back. Both of my other directors were telling me that things had not gone great for them either and that kinda added to my mood for the day. Kids talking instead of singing, copping attutudes with the directors, others just not participating whatsoever...you name it and it happened. It's rather frustrating considering we present this musical on December 7th!!
Other Notes
If you haven't heard, we are expecting our third little one in May. The doctors say officially the due date is 18th, but I think it will be earlier because Gracie came two weeks early. We should find out what we are having in either early December or early January.
