Well, things for the Saunier house seem to be never-ending. It's been a busy summer already!
My brother got married over Memorial Day weekend to a wonderful girl named Marena from Monroeville (pictures of the wedding). Eddie, Shelby and Gracie were all part of the wedding party and I sang with my cousin. They got married in a little historic church in Frisco City, AL, called the Barbara Locklin Baptist Church. As with many historic churches, sound technology was interesting. They had a tape deck and two speakers, but no cd player. This wouldn't have been a problem, except one of the songs we were sing was on a cd. So, Marena's brother ran back to his house, grabbed his DVD player and we got that set up.
Now, let me say that it didn't have a display on it, so we didn't know what track it was playing.
Anyway, all went well up until the lighting of the unity candle. We started the music and my cousin started singing her part. It was then that we realized it was playing a different key than what we had practiced!!! We tried to make it through, but I finally turned the off during the first verse. We sang the chorus accappella and then finished it with that.
I was so upset about it to begin with, but then I talked with Jon and Marena. They loved the fact that it had gotten shortened because they were tired of standing at the candle! I didn't feel quite so bad after that.
The reception was a blast. The DJ was pretty good and the historical Masonic Hall was so pretty. The food was good and the cake, oh my gosh, the cake. Jon's groom's cake was Red Velvet, made from my grandmother's recipe. No offense meant to anyone, I haven't had red velvet that good since my Grandmother passed away in 1999. Even my own is not that good. By the end of the night, that cake almost completely gone (evidence).
It was a beautiful wedding and now I have a sister-in-law!!
